Discover Music: Discover Life, Inc. (formerly MusicAlive!) was formed in 2000 by Orbert Davis and Mark Ingram. With a mission to enhance student academic achievement and life skills through supportive mentoring, and the implementation of standards-based curricula, our unique method is presented from a perspective that meets students where they are emotionally, culturally and academically.
Davis and Ingram have spent the majority of their professional careers as artists and mentors. Their concern about the quality and effectiveness of arts education for young people was the inspiration for DMDL's curriculum design. Their goal is to insure that high-quality, standards based arts programming is available for all students, especially those lease likely to have access to the arts.
DMDL personnel, comprised of highly qualified, professional teaching artists and academic instructors, are required to complete a 50-hour methods course.
